L’équipe du CREPS en route
vers l'Irlande

The CREPS Team on the road to Ireland
A team of six APT trainee instructors from the CREPS Rhône-Alpes in Vallon-Pont-d’Arc, accompanied by three staff members and trainers, set off for Ireland to join their colleagues and friends at the Gartan Outdoor Training Centre. It takes two days to reach County Donegal, in the far north-west of the country, travelling by minibus and then by ferry from Cherbourg to Dublin. And so begins this wonderful shared experience, which broadens horizons and enriches the lives of all those lucky enough to take part. With calm seas and clear skies, and following a stopover in Normandy at Omaha Beach, the team set sail for a pleasant crossing, occasionally accompanied by dolphins that would dart in and out to play in the ship’s wake as it headed west – a true gift from nature. In Dublin, the visitors from the Ardèche had to get used to driving on the left for the remaining four-hour drive to the shores of Lake Gartan. Warmly welcomed by the whole Gartan team in the late afternoon, they were invited to watch a Gaelic football match, a sport that is a cross between football and rugby. It was an interesting and fun experience which allowed them, on the one hand, to discover a local sport that is very popular in Ireland and, on the other, to relax after their 35-hour journey. The week’s programme promises to be very rewarding and now requires a good rest to ensure they are fully prepared.
