The small island of Inishmeane - Inis Meán - is located on the Northeast of Gola Island (see) and around 1 km off the coast of Magheragallan (see). A little further north is the island of Inishsirrer (see). The island of Inishmeane, once inhabited, was abandoned in the 1960s, as evidenced by the numerous ruined houses. Today, around ten inhabitants live on the island near Calluragh Point. A concrete pier has been built at this point during the celtic tiger years, but there is no regular boat service connecting the island to the mainland. There is no electricity or public water on the island.
